With the 2010 Phil Kaufman Award

Pat Pistilli is being honored for his efforts in formalizing the EDA industry and as founder of the Design Automation Conference (DAC). (Press release.)

Early in his career, Pat developed tools to make hardware designers more productive. Recognizing the potential for transforming the electronics industry and the need to grow the profession, he co-founded DAC to promote and share technical advances in CAD across the electronics industry.


The ESD Alliance (formerly EDAC) and the IEEE Council on EDA (CEDA) held the 17th annual Phil Kaufman Award ceremony and dinner on Tuesday, October 12th, 2010 at the San Jose Marriott in San Jose, California.

The evening included presentations honoring Pat by:

   Lip-Bu Tan Vice Chairman of the ESD Alliance (formerly EDAC),
President and CEO of Cadence Design Systems
   Andreas Kuehlmann President of the IEEE Council on EDA (CEDA)
   Al Dunlop President of Crossbow Consulting, and CEDA founder
Followed by an acceptance speech by Pat Pistilli.
