Robert (Bob) Smith is Executive Director of the Electronic System Design (ESD) Alliance. He is responsible for the management and operations of the ESD Alliance, an international association of companies providing goods and services throughout the semiconductor design ecosystem. Previously, Bob was senior vice president of Marketing and Business Development at Uniquify, responsible for brand development, positioning, strategy and business development activities. Bob began his career in high tech as an analog design engineer working at Hewlett Packard. Since then, he has spent more than 30 years in various roles in marketing, business development and executive management primarily working with startup and early stage companies. These companies include IKOS Systems, Synopsys, LogicVision, and Magma Design Automation. He was a member of the IPO teams that took Synopsys public in 1992 and Magma public in 2001. Bob received his BSEE from U.C. Davis and his MSEE from Stanford University.
Paul Cohen is the Member of the Technical Staff at the ESD Alliance, and chair of the Market Statistics Service (MSS). Paul’s responsibilities include coordinating the technical activities of the Alliance committees, publishing both the Alliance newsletter and the quarterly MSS reports, managing the IT infrastructure including email and web, and video production for Alliance events. Prior to joining the ESD Alliance, Paul was a Corporate Applications Engineer at Virage Logic, responsible for providing technical support to major customers and partners. Paul began his career as a IC design engineer at General Electric Corporate R&D, and worked as an IC designer in systems companies in the northeast US, including Digital Equipmen, Prime Computer and others, before joining the EDA and IP industries. Paul has numerous patents related to IC and system design. He has also been an adjunct professor, teaching a graduate level VLSI design course. He received his BSEE from Syracuse University.
Julie Rogers is the Director of Marketing and Operations of ESD-Alliance. She oversees all events, industry trade show and collaboration activities with member companies and associates in the semiconductor ecosystem. She brings expertise in event planning, member development, trade show management and media relations. Her career began in media with over 8 years in television at KCRA-TV and KOVR-TV (Sacramento), then Regional Marketing Director for the American Cancer Society and Director of Marketing for Weintraub Tobin Law Corp. before starting her own consulting business. Dignity Health utilizes her talents for large educational symposiums primarily in cardiology, electrophysiology, pulmonary, infectious disease and critical care, writing grants for funding from pharmaceutical and medical device companies, securing exhibitors, negotiation of speakers and facilities. She has excellent communication and an interpersonal skill used to develop and effectively manage relationships and has strong leadership, planning, negotiation and staff motivation skills. Julie received her BA from California State University, Sacramento.
