How to Raise Money and How Not to Spend It
October 17, 2012 at Cadence Design Systems, San Jose, CA
The second installment of the EDAC - Jim Hogan Emerging Companies Series was held at Cadence Design Systems on October 17, 2012. This exciting series of conversations explores concepts and best practices for emerging companies. The topic for this conversation was "How to Raise Money and How Not to Spend It".
Start-ups by nature are highly volatile and risky. Having sufficient funding until a sustainable business model is established is vital.
There are many paths to raising money. Serially successful entrepreneurs shared their funding strategies and give specific examples of what worked for them. Equally important is the efficient and effective use of cash in a start-up, and the speakers discussed frameworks for appropriate spending.
Managing risks by implementing and adapting these strategies and tactics in a disciplined manner can make the critical difference to enterprise success.
